Sheffield company wins energy efficiency ‘oscar’

A Sheffield-based company has beaten off stiff competition to scoop the top honour at the Regional Energy Efficiency Awards.

J & J Crump and Son Ltd, from Killamarsh, Sheffield, picked up the award for the ‘Best Large Scale Project’ for its work on the Warm-up-Hartlepool scheme. The award recognises exceptional work in delivering a large-scale energy-saving project while maintaining excellent customer service and a high standard of quality workmanship throughout the project.

The project, which is run in partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council and E.ON aims to help householders in the borough access a range of energy efficiency measures such as cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and heating that will make their homes warmer and cheaper to heat.

The scheme which is funded through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO3) launched in July 2018, and by working with the Council and EON, the funding partner, J & J Crump were able to target measures at areas that were most in need.

“We have a huge amount of experience in delivering area-based schemes, working closely with Local Authorities and Utilities to be able to make a real difference,” said Steve Crump, MD of J & J Crump & Son Ltd.

“Warm Up HartIepool follows on from similar schemes which we run around the country including the Isle of Wight, Devon, Scotland and the Midlands and we are absolutely delighted that it has been recognised as an exemplar scheme on a regional level.”

Warm Up Hartlepool will now go forward to the National awards in September.
