Energy efficiency measures for the residents of Somerset.
Somerset Council is working with E.ON and J&J Crump on its Cosy Homes scheme to help eligible residents benefit from a range of energy saving measures in their homes.
These measures could include External Wall Insulation, Internal Wall Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation, Loft Insulation, Room in Roof Insulation, in some cases replacement boilers or full new heating, Solar PV and ASHP (for homes not heated by gas) and Smart Heating Controls.
We have several funding steams available to help you make your home warmer and cheaper to heat.
You could qualify for a package of energy efficiency measures if you meet the criteria below:
- Homes with an income level of less than £31,000
Homes with an EPC rating of E, F or G, in certain areas of the borough AND one of the additional criteria below:
- Receive a council tax rebate (not including single-person allowance)
- Homes where someone has a long-term health condition that makes them vulnerable to the cold
- A member of the household receives free school meals due to low income
- The household is supported by a LA runs scheme that supports low-income ad vulnerable households
- The household has been referred to the LA for support by their energy supplier of Citizens Advice because they are struggling to pay the gas and electricity bills
If you don’t qualify for ECO4 funding, you could qualify for a single low-cost insulation measure such as Cavity Wall Insulation or Loft Insulation if:
- You live in a home that falls into Council Tax Band A-E and your home has an EPC rating of D or below
One of our surveyors will visit the property to carry out a Retrofit Assessment and technical survey. This collects all the information on the property’s current insulation and heating system. From this, the Retrofit Co-ordinator and Retrofit Designer will design a property-specific project plan.
The project plan will outline what energy efficiency measures should be installed in the property and the order they should be installed. This will include a ventilation strategy for the property.
Once the project plan is approved the energy efficiency measures will be installed. It doesn’t matter if you own your own home or if it is rented (private rented properties not eligible for boiler replacements) the offer is open to everyone and most measures will be installed free (subject to survey and eligibility).
All measures are installed to PAS2035 standard and registered with Trustmark.
