Free Cavity Wall Insulation for Blocks of Flats

If you live in a block of flats of three storeys or more we can provide you with cavity wall insulation - and it is often FREE of charge.

In the past many blocks of flats have been left out in the cold – literally – because of funding problems, as only certain people qualified. But now everyone qualifies, regardless of tenure, income or other circumstances. Furthermore, some blocks may have what are called ‘hard-to-treat’ cavities, for example, a cavity of less than 50mm. This is not a problem any more, as we install the latest high-tech products which can be used in narrow cavities.

Last chance for free insulation?

Funds for insulating blocks of flats will be cut or reduced after April 2014.

The Chancellor's Statement just before Christmas contained a pledge to cut the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), which requires energy companies to invest in energy efficiency improvements.

ECO is complex and made up of four funding streams, each with different eligibility criteria. The one that will be affected most by the Chancellor's announcement is CERO (Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation), which applies mainly to hard-to-treat cavity wall insulation. Dwellings of three storeys or more are considered 'hard-to-treat'.

It is possible that some funding will be available after April 2014, although it may not be as generous as that available now. We will keep you informed of developments. Subscribe to our newsletter to get all the latest information and offers.

Landlords & Managing Agents

We are very keen to hear from you if you own or manage a block of flats.

For the time being you have an excellent opportunity to insulate blocks - but only for as long as funding lasts. If you own or manage flats please let us know NOW. We currently have funding to insulate FREE OF CHARGE. We currently have surveyor and specialist installer capacity to focus on blocks of flats between now and the end of March 2014.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

1. You provide us with a list of blocks and preferably with contact details for a key person (or persons) within each block.

2. We contact everyone in each block to arrange an energy survey. A Chartered Surveyor then signs a document to say that the block is suitable for cavity wall insulation.

3. We determine if any scaffolding or other access equipment is needed, and how much it will cost. We are usually able to meet all or most of the cost of this, but will inform householders if any charge is involved.

4. We install an appropriate wall insulation material such as mineral fibre, depending on what is best for the block and its location.
