Up to £7,600 to improve your home

From early June homeowners and private tenants will be able to get funding of up to £7,600 towards the cost of energy efficiency improvements. The Government are introducing the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund in June.

Up to £6,000 for solid wall insulation

If your home has solid walls – which applies to most homes built before 1930 – the fund will pay up to 75 per cent of the cost up to a maximum of £6,000 for solid wall insulation. This is a major step forward for those who have been waiting many years to insulate their home.

Up to £1,000 for other improvements

All homeowners and tenants can get funding of up to £1,000 for other energy efficiency measures, but you must have two measures installed from the list below:

  • Condensing gas boiler (on mains gas)
  • Double glazing (replacing single glazing)
  • Secondary glazing
  • Replacement doors
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Floor insulation
  • Flat roof insulation
  • Room-in-roof insulation
  • Replacement warm air unit
  • Replacement storage heaters
  • Flue gas heat recovery units
  • Waste water heat recovery systems

For example, if you have a new ‘A’-rated gas boiler and cavity wall insulation the cost to you might be £2,500 – this would only be £1,500 with the Home Improvement Fund.

£100 refund for surveys

To qualify, the measures you apply for must be recommended in an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) or a Green Deal Advice Report (GDAR). If you have had a survey within the two years before your application you will not have to get another survey. Otherwise, you need to pay for a survey but you will get a refund of up to £100 from the Home Improvement Fund.

Limited funds

The Government have initially set aside only £50 million for this fund, which we suspect will not last very long, so we urge you to apply early before word gets around!

Apply now!

To qualify for these payments you must get the work done any a Government-approved Green Deal Installer, such as J&J Crump & Son. Get ahead of the rush and register your interest with us now. If you do not already have an EPC or GDAR we will book a survey for you. We will tell you how much funding you will get so you will be first in the queue when the funding starts in June. This represents the best opportunity ever to insulate your solid wall homes for a fraction of the cost, and to replace gas boilers. We can help you come up with the best possible deal for your stock portfolio, using existing EPC’s – or we can provide new EPC’s if required. We can help you through the entire process from survey to completion of works, phased over a timescale to suit you based on the number of properties you own and availability of funds.
